Chatham-Kent is in for some celebrating this weekend as local communities gear-up for Canada Day.

The Tilbury BIA is hosting a fireworks show at dusk on June 30 at Tilbury Memorial Park. The event will have live entertainment featuring the ‘Leave Those Kids Alone’ band at 7:00 pm. There will be glitter tattoo artists, balloon artists, cupcakes, and food available for purchase from the Tilbury Firefighters Association.

Canada Day fireworks are returning to Glad Tidings Church in Blenheim this year on July 1 at dusk. Hot dogs, pop, ice cream, and candy floss will be served as well as live performances by a local dance and gymnastics group. All proceeds from ice cream and candy floss sales will be going to support the Guatemala School Breakfast Program.
Fireworks are also being held in Erieau, starting at 9:45pm on July 1st.
In Bothwell, fireworks will take place on Canada Day at dusk on the Sloan property behind the Bothwell Area Sports Centre.
Wallaceburg is celebrating the day on July 1 at the Kinsmen Community Centre. The event from 10:00 am – 4:00 pm can be expected to have food, drinks, and vendors both inside and outside of the centre. The opening ceremony starts at 11:00 am and will include a performance of the national anthem as well as cake cutting with councillors Aaron Hall and Carmen McGregor. There will be several free activities for children such as glitter tattoos, face painting, and a Canada Day photo booth.
Chatham’s all-day event will be located at Tecumseh Park on July 2 from 11:00 am to 11:00 pm. Celebrations will include full operation of the beverage garden, vendors, live entertainment from musicians such as Jeremys Rejects and Fat Cat Band. Free cupcakes will be handed out to the first 500 attendees.
