Canada Post Approves Mailing Address Change For Mitchell’s Bay

Mitchell’s Bay residents will soon see the community’s name reflected in their mailing addresses.

Canada Post has approved a request from the Municipality of Chatham-Kent to update the mailing place name from “Dover Centre” to “Mitchell’s Bay.” Postal codes and all other address details will remain the same.

The change will take effect in October.

“This may appear to be a small change, but community identity matters,” said Councillor Rhonda Jubenville. “Mitchell’s Bay residents are proud of their community, and it is important that their mailing address accurately represents where they live.”

To help ensure a smooth transition, affected residents will be provided with complimentary mail-forwarding service for one year. Mail and parcels addressed to “Dover Centre” will continue to reach customers during this period.

Residents and businesses that receive a notification from Canada Post about the change are encouraged to update their mailing address with organizations, service providers, businesses, friends, and family.

CK Council approved the request from the Mitchell’s Bay Area Association to have the “Mitchell’s Bay” name officially recognized for mailing purposes back in November 2025.
