Canada Post Workers Move To Rotating Strikes

Postal delivery is expected to resume this week across Canada, as the nation’s postal workers move to rotating strikes.

Canada Post employees returned to work over the weekend after workers walked off the job without warning on September 25, hours after the federal government announced major changes to modernize the Crown corporation.

The changes included ending home delivery and closing some underused rural post offices.

While the end of a full national strike is welcomed, Canada Post said the rotating strikes will still challenge its ability to provide reliable service. As a result, all service guarantees will be suspended.

In the meantime, Canada Post is urging the Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW) to return to the bargaining table to reach new collective agreements. The company is waiting to hear back from the union on its latest offers that were tabled on October 3.
