Canada’s mail system could come to a grinding halt if postal workers walk off the job next week.
Canada Post employees, represented by the Canadian Union of Postal Workers, have voted 95 per cent in favour of strike action following a series of votes that took place across Canada between September 9 and October 20.
Urban and rural employees with Canada Post will be in a legal strike position as of November 3 if an agreement cannot be reached with the employer.
Contract talks have been ongoing between the two sides for close to a year with wages, safe working conditions and retirement cited as key issues.
