A manufacturing issue is to blame for a recent shortage in EpiPens.
Epi-pens are auto-injectors which are used to treat life-threatening allergic reactions.
Sources report that pharmacies across Canada will likely run out of EpiPens in the next few days or weeks, and new supplies are expected until the end of August.
The cause of the shortage is an issue at Pfizer Canada, who makes the EpiPens. A recent press release from Pfizer states that there is a limited supply of EpiPen Jr. – which contains a smaller dose of epinephrine.
