Canine Unit Called In To Track Down Runaway Driver

Stunt driving and several other charges have been laid against a Mississauga man, caught whipping through Chatham-Kent over the weekend.

According to Provincial Police, the accused was clocked going more than 50 kilometers an hour over the limit on the 401 just after 12:30 Sunday morning.

However, when officers pulled the vehicle over, the driver allegedly took off, running into a nearby field.

The accused was tracked down with the help of OPP Canine Maximus.

The 27-year-old has now been charged with stunt racing, driving with liquor readily available, resisting a peace officer, obstructing a peace officer, and possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking.

The man was released from custody with a date in court next month.
