Cardiac care is coming to South Kent.
Less than four months after opening, officials with the Blenheim Health Hub have announced Capture Health will be providing cardiology services at the Hyland Drive clinic, starting this spring.
Capture Health will initially offer a range of diagnostic and consultative services, including 2D echocardiograms; Holter monitoring; automatic blood pressure monitoring; stress echocardiograms; electrocardiograms, EKGs, and ECGs; virtual cardiologist consultations; and on-site internal medicine consultations.
Officials say the new services will allow patients to access essential cardiac testing and specialist consultations closer to home, reducing the need for travel to larger urban centres and supporting earlier diagnosis and ongoing management of cardiovascular conditions.
“We are excited to be part of the future of health care in Blenheim and to work alongside the Health Hub to bring high-quality cardiovascular care closer to home,” said Rob Butler, CEO of the Windsor Heart Institute/Capture Health in a news release. “This initiative reflects what is possible when a community and its health care partners share a common vision; and we are honoured to be part of it.”
A community-led holiday fundraising campaign ran through the month of December, inviting residents to make a donation and remove a piece of wrapping from a giant Christmas gift on the lawn of the Health Hub. In all, $104,000 was raised, which will help retrofit and equip space at the clinic to prepare for the new cardiology service.
“The generosity behind this initiative is helping us build space that will support better health outcomes for decades to come; and we are proud to welcome Capture Health as a partner in delivering cardiac care close to home,” said Tyler Mercer; Executive Director of the Blenheim Health Hub.
The campaign also received support from community partners, including the Blenheim Rotary Club and Ridge Landfill Community Trust.
