He has written and sang some of the biggest songs in music history.  Early Morning Rain, Carefree Highway, Sundown and told the most amazing stories like Black Day in July and the Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald.  He is Gordon Lightfoot.  He was born and raised in the small Central Ontario town of Orillia and sang across the country writing about people and places.  Gordon Lightfoot has had his songs performed by the likes of Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis as well as Ronnie Hawkins, Eric Clapton, Barbra Streisand, Sarah McLachlan and The Rovers.

Lightfoot falls in the same category as Bob Dylan, Ian and Sylvia and Joan Baez when it comes to being one of the most influential artists in the 1960’s and 1970’s.

Gordon Lightfoot will be performing at the St Clair College Capitol Theatre on November the 16.  It has been 4 years since the 78 year old Lightfoot has performed in Chatham Kent.  Tickets are on sale and range from $71.50 to $141.50 plus service charges and are available from the Capitol Theatre Box office
