Careless Driving Charge Laid After Truck Leaves Road On 401

A truck driver has been charged after a tractor-trailer left the road on Highway 401 in Chatham-Kent.

The Ontario Provincial Police said officers were called to the eastbound lanes of the highway near Bloomfield Road at around 12:30 a.m. on Saturday.

Authorities said the tractor-trailer left the road and nearly struck a sign.

The driver and only occupant of the vehicle was not injured.

Eastbound Highway 401 was temporarily reduced to one lane while officers conducted an investigation and the vehicle was removed from the scene.

As a result of the crash, a 43-year-old from St. Marys has been charged with careless driving.
