A man under release conditions not to be behind the wheel of a vehicle is facing charges following an early morning collision in Chatham.
The Chatham-Kent Police Service said officers responded to Sass Road at around 5 a.m. on Friday after a truck and a car collided head-on.
Police at the scene quickly learned that the man driving the vehicle was bound by a release order to refrain from driving. As a result, he was arrested and taken to police headquarters, where he was held pending a bail hearing.
No one was injured in the crash but both vehicles had to be towed from the scene.
A 42-year-old Chatham-Kent man is now charged with failing to comply with a release order, driving while disqualified, and careless driving.
