With plans for a 45,000 square foot facility, restaurants, and gaming, the site plan for Chatham’s new casino has been given the municipal green light.
Mayor Randy Hope is confident in Gateway’s plan for the casino at the corner of Richmond and Keil in Chatham, and says the developers have given a lot of thought into the look of the facility.
“They really want to bring and be a part of the community, feel blended in, make sure it’s not only a casino it’s also a family venue with restaurants and that kind of thing,” Hope says. “We’re proud that we’re the first one of the new builds that are going on, they’ve done (retrofitting of older casinos,) but we are the first new build in Ontario.”
The next step is to get the Government of Ontario to give the project its final sanction.
Hope estimates the casino, which will include more than 300 slots and 10 gaming tables, should be finished in about 10 months and open in mid-2019.
