One of the largest school boards in the region is laying out its priorities for the coming year.
Trustees with the St Clair Catholic District School Board have approved a list of capital projects for the 2024-25 school year with more than $2.5 million in major renovations and site improvements across the region.
Among the biggest projects will be gymnasium renovations at St Patrick’s Catholic High School in Sarnia, and asphalt and yard improvements at three elementary schools, including St Elizabeth Catholic School in Wallaceburg and St Anne in Blenheim.
Officials say the board is also looking ahead to 17 smaller-scale improvements, including accessibility upgrades, HVAC and fire alarm system replacements, facade repairs, roof maintenance, and school-funded outdoor play enhancements in both Chatham-Kent and Lambton County.
The total funding available to the English Catholic board for capital improvements is roughly $8.7 million, which includes new SCI and School Renewal Allocation (SRA) grants and unused funds carried forward from last year, which must be used before March 2027.
