The local English Catholic school board has outlined its to-do list for planned projects for the current school term.
An update to the St. Clair Catholic District School Board’s long-term capital plan for 2018-2022 was presented to its Board of Trustees last week.
The capital plan provides background information on the board’s future capital needs and a framework for decision-making regarding facilities.
For the current budget year, the school board intends to re-submit a business case and capital funding application to the Ministry of Education to fund a replacement school for Ursuline College Chatham. The board’s funding application for a new school was turned down by the ministry last year.
The school board also plans to submit business cases and capital funding applications for portapak replacement at Christ the King Catholic School in Wallaceburg and to build an addition on St. Anne Catholic School in Blenheim.
Also mentioned in the board’s capital plan update is the intention to sell off Monsignor Uyen Catholic School and continue the construction of a new Catholic school in south Chatham.
The schedule of the planned projects is subject to a Pupil Accommodation Review and any required approval from the Ministry of Education.
Updates to the capital plan are provided to the Board of Trustees each year. A new long-term capital plan is scheduled to be released in September 2023.
