The union representing Ontario’s Catholic teachers has reached a tentative bargaining agreement with the provincial government.

The Ontario English Catholic Teachers’ Association (OECTA) said after more than 20 months of bargaining, the tentative deal on central terms for a new collective agreement has been reached with the Government of Ontario and the Ontario Catholic School Trustees’ Association.

The specific deals of the agreement will remain confidential until after it has been ratified by union members. A province-wide vote on the new contract will take place on March 26 and 27.

OECTA represents 45,000 teachers in Ontario’s publicly funded English Catholic schools, from Kindergarten to Grade 12.
