Catholic Teachers Walkout Monday

Talks will resume today between the province and Ontario’s English Catholic Teachers on Wednesday, but plans are already in the works for another strike day if a deal can’t be reached.

The mediator has called the two sides back to the table as the union announced another round of rotating strikes to begin next Monday, which includes the St Clair Catholic District School Board.

The union represents almost 800 local teachers.

Students will also be off this coming Friday as part of the historic province wide one day strike involving all four major teachers’ unions.

Education Minister Stephen Lecce says in a statement that the government is ready to negotiate a deal that keeps students in class.
