
No injuries have been reported following a recent fire at a homeless encampment in Chatham.
Chatham-Kent Fire and Rescue said firefighters responded to the Grand Avenue East encampment sometime during the afternoon of October 2 after a tent caught fire.
According to fire officials, there were no propane cylinders near the fire, however, some bicycles were damaged in the blaze.
The cause of the fire remains undetermined.
The homeless encampment at 325 Grand Avenue East is the largest in Chatham-Kent, with as many as 50 unhoused individuals residing there at any given time.
