Police are crediting the use of closed-circuit television cameras for helping to locate a missing elderly resident in Chatham-Kent.
The Chatham-Kent Police Service said officers responded to a missing person call Wednesday evening in Chatham after an elderly resident failed to return home from a scheduled appointment.
After initial efforts to locate the individual were unsuccessful, officers turned to the police CCTV system and discovered the missing person’s vehicle had recently been recorded several kilometres away in the Dresden area.
Authorities responded to the area and located the disoriented driver and the vehicle, which was low on fuel.
Police said the missing individual was unharmed and was returned to their family. Additional support was also provided to those involved.
