Celebrating 25 Years of French Catholic Education

It’s a special anniversary for a local school board.

The province’s eight French-language Catholic school boards, including Conseil scolaire catholique Providence, are celebrating 25 years of education this year.

“The Conseil scolaire catholique Providence, along with our province’s seven other French-language Catholic school boards were established in 1998, finally giving Catholic Francophones the right to manage their own schools,” said Jacques Kenny, Chair of the Csc Providence. “L’École catholique has been proudly overseeing the development, vitality and growth of French-language Catholic education in Ontario for 25 years.”

To mark their silver anniversary, French-language Catholic schools are holding a number of special activities for students and staff, including 25 Years of Smiles, an original competition to bring out the beautiful smiles of their school communities. The finished products will be featured during Catholic Education Week in May.

The Providence board alone includes almost 10,000 students in its 33 schools, including 24 elementary schools and 9 high schools from Windsor to Woodstock, and also covers the Grey-Bruce and Huron-Perth regions.
