This weekend puts the wraps on Black History Month in style.

Saturday marks the second annual Chatham-Kent Black Excellence Awards and Gala, being held at the Retro Suites in Chatham.

Nearly two dozen people have been nominated in a number of categories, including youth, female, male, and citizen of the year. Honours will also be awarded for Black-owned Business of the Year, and Black Excellence in Education.

The Black Excellence Awards is organized by the Black Excellence Committee, in collaboration with Buxton’s Next Generation and the Buxton National Historic Site & Museum.
