The Wallaceburg Fireworks Family Festival takes place in Kinsmen Park on July 1st, and this year, they’re going for a Street Party atmosphere. Committee member Tom Cogghe says that there are lots of activities planned for kids.

“We have inflatable castles and obstacle course, stuff like that, face painters, balloon twist people,” says Cogghe. “Zoo 2 You Exotic Animals will be there, we have a princess party.”

The festivities kick off at 3:30 in the park on Argyle Ave behind A.A. Wright Public School, with fireworks set to begin shortly after 10PM.

Meantime in Chatham celebrations kick off with a small parade from the cenotaph to Tecumseh Park.

Education Coordinator at the Chatham-Kent Museum, Deanna Bullard, says the festivities will have a historical feel. “Once at the bandshell, they’re going to get a chance to listen to a little bit of Chatham-Kent history as told by various storytellers and historical experts on different subjects.”

Ccrafts and other activities are planned for kids at the Museum and the Thames Art Gallery.

A fireworks display is taking place in Tilbury tonight, followed by shows tomorrow in Wallaceburg, Blenheim, and Bothwell.
