The first annual Black Heritage Symposium is today, and it’s part of Education Week at the Lambton-Kent District School Board.
Public Relations Officer Heather Hughes says students in grade 5 through 8 will be at the event, taking place at Lambton-Kent Composite School in Dresden.
“Through song and dance and through special events and workshops for our educators,” she says,”we’ll really dive into how black history can be integrated into the curriculum and celebrate the experience of African and Afro-Caribbean people in Canada.
The theme for this year’s Education Week is Celebrating Respectful and Inclusive Education.
You can see a full list of Education Week activities on the LKDSB website.
Meantime, the St Clair Catholic District School Board will be holding Catholic Education Week May 5-10.
