A two-day celebration kicks off on Friday in honour of International Women’s Day in Chatham-Kent.

The Zonta Club of Chatham-Kent and SheLeads, an organization committed to uplifting and advancing all women in CK, will be holding the I AM WOMAN event on Friday, March 8 and Saturday, March 9 in Chatham.

The event will kick off with a women’s march through downtown Chatham, organized by Zonta, at 4:30 p.m. Participants are encouraged to wear the colour purple, craft signs, and wield pom poms.

The festivities will continue at the Chatham Armoury at 5 p.m. with several activities planned, including interactive booths, food, music, a dance tutorial, and a lip sync battle. A panel discussion has also been added to the day’s itinerary which will begin at 7 p.m.

A women-owned and operated vendor expo will then take place at the Armoury on Saturday from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.

A minimum $5 donation is required to attend the event at the Armoury with all proceeds being donated to the Chatham-Kent Women’s Centre. The first 100 attendees will have their donations covered by Mainstreet Credit Union.
