It’s Legion Week in Canada.
Flag raising ceremonies were held at municipal service centres across the municipality on Friday, the largest turnout at the Civic Centre in Chatham.
Zone A3 Commander Len Maynard said the work of the Legion goes on regardless of the pandemic that has forced a change in the way events are held.
Although recognizing the sacrifice and contribution Canada’s military men and women have made to our freedom remains at the core of the Legion, membership is no longer restricted to veterans of Canada’s armed forces.
There are more than 1,300 Legion branches across Canada with some 250,000 members.
