Celebrating Local Government Week

This is Local Government Week, running October 15-21.

Chatham-Kent Mayor Darrin Canniff says it’s an opportunity to increase public awareness about the role played by all levels of government in our community.

“A lot of time people get confused over what is municipal, what is federal, what is provincial,” Canniff says. “It’s a week to thank everyone who works in government for their hard work in the community.”

A section of the Chatham-Kent website provides educational resources on the different levels of government and responsibilities of each, as well as how decisions are made by council, and the difference between municipal government and the corporation of the Municipality of Chatham-Kent.
