
Several local high school students are being recognized for their artistic talent.
Six awards were handed out in conjunction with the Here I Am student exhibition at the Thames Art Gallery in Chatham.
Over 70 students from five high schools in Chatham Kent participated in this exhibit, with over 100 artworks on display.
Three People’s Choice Awards are going to Joshua Huys from Ursuline College Chatham, Abigail King from John McGregor Secondary School and Scarlet Koole from the Chatham-Kent Secondary School.
The two Awards of Excellence went to Sauryn Morgan from Ursuline College Chatham and Scarlet Koole from Chatham-Kent Secondary School.
Caleb Lewsaw, who is graduating from John McGregor Secondary School was awarded the one-thousand-dollar scholarship award, donated by Cathy Van Raay-Myers. Lewsaw will be attending Sheridan College for their Art Fundamentals program in the fall.
The Here I Am exhibit will remain on display at the Thames Art Gallery through June 1st.
