Celebrating Music and Good Medicine at Walapolooza

A celebration of music and community is being held on Walpole Island First Nation later this week.

Walapolooza kicks off on Friday afternoon, bringing two days of live entertainment. Indigenous artists and performers from across Turtle Island will be playing at Highbanks Park on Friday and Saturday.

Among this year’s entertainers are social media star and Indigenous advocate Eagle Blackbird, comedians Janelle Niles and Clint Couchie, and award winning hip hop artist Stella Standingbear.

The free outdoor festival, organized by the Bkejwanong Youth Council, Walpole Island Health Centre, and the Three Fires Women’s Shelter, among other organizations, will also include local food and craft vendors.

The community concert begins at 3 o’clock each afternoon.
