Music from the silent film era will fill the halls of St Andrew’s United Church in Chatham next month.
Performing Arts at St Andrew’s will feature a screening of 1923’s Hunchback of Notre Dame, staring Lon Chaney, with live pipe organ accompaniment on Saturday, March 15. The Hunchback of Notre Dame is an historical drama based on Victor Hugo’s 1831 novel of the same name.
This concert initially was planned for showing The Gold Rush starring Charlie Chaplin but, due to last minute unforeseen circumstances, it has to be changed.
Juno-award winning organist Ian Sadler will be on the keys of St Andrew’s historic 1923 Casavant pipe organ.
Sadler, a native of England, started his musical training as a boy chorister at St. Paul’s Cathedral in London, England. He later began organ lessons which took his love of music and the organ to a new level. Before and since immigrating to Canada in 1980, he has served as music director and organist at various churches and cathedrals, presented organ concerts and conducted choirs internationally.
Admission is by donation with a suggested gift of $20. Doors open at 6:30pm.
