The bridges in question are in the Maple Leaf Cemetery and are currently on the divestment list.

Councillor Doug Sulman has suggested converting these bridges into pedestrian bridges to preserve their historical significance as many people use them every day.

“Anybody who looks at them sees they’re heritage bridges,” Sulman says. “There’s thousands of people in that cemetery on a daily basis who are going through to see their loved ones. There’s tourists that come and actually go into the cemetery, there’s others who come and do historical studies in there.”

Council will examine the associated costs at a future meeting.
