Misspelling of “remembrance” on the Chatham Cenotaph

More than $8,000 in federal funding will be spent on fixing up the Cenotaph in Chatham.

The money comes as a grant from Veterans’ Affairs Canada, and will be used to correct the word “remembrance” that was misspelled on the monument.

Other repairs include new lead lettering on the World War One inscriptions and cleaning the granite.

The federal funding matches municipal cash set aside in the 2016 budget.
