The Chatham-Kent Chamber of Commerce is joining forces with 19 other Chambers across Ontario to call on the provincial government to put the cap and trade program on the back burner.
Set to come into effect January 1st, the system will impose a cap the level of carbon pollution that can be generated with specific permits to issued companies specifying how much carbon they can burn.
However, the Chambers say with the high cost of the program, high hydro rates, and the uncertain political situation in the US, the program should be delayed for at least a year.
