Residents will have a chance to get to know some of the local candidates running in the federal election with a special debate being hosted by the Chatham-Kent Chamber of Commerce.

The forum focuses on issues relating to business, young people, economic recovery, and the future prosperity of Chatham-Kent and the country.

The event is being recorded Thursday morning and will be shared on YourTV and the Chamber’s social media platforms starting on Friday.

The forum will include candidates from the Liberal, Conservative, NDP, and Green parties in Chatham-Kent-Leamington and Lambton-Kent-Middlesex. The People’s Party of Canada was not invited, citing a Chamber policy following the National Debate Commission guidelines based on national support and representation in the House of Commons.

Not to be outdone after being left out of the Chamber debate, PPC candidate Liz Vallee is hosting an online event of her own. She’ll be answering questions during a virtual public forum starting at 8 o’clock tomorrow night – visit meet.google.com/huu-grsk-eth to take part.

Meantime, the Liberal candidate in Lambton-Kent-Middlesex is getting out and about in the southern part of the riding. Sudit Ranade will be meeting with voters in Dover Centre Thursday evening. (Edit September 9th:) Formerly scheduled to be held in the pavilion at Memorial Park, Ranade says the event location has been changed due to COVID and will now be at 26031 Balloon Road.
