The Ontario government is setting out some new rules for how police interact with the public.

From this point forward, the controversial practices known as “Carding” and “Street Checks” will no longer be allowed.

The practice has long been considered racist by critics who say the arbitrary collection of identification has been anything but.

The government is also appointing an independent reviewer and put together a training group to develop new education programs for officers.
