Charges Laid After Police Officers Threatened

A Wallaceburg man has been arrested after several police officers were threatened over the phone on New Year’s Day.

The Chatham-Kent Police Service said a man made numerous calls to the front desk at police headquarters on January 1, beginning at around 2:30 p.m. During the calls, threats were made toward the police officers answering.

Following an investigation, officers identified a suspect, who was arrested at his home on Wallace Street in Wallaceburg.

As a result, a 20-year-old Wallaceburg man has been charged with uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm, harassing communications, being intoxicated in a public place, and failing to comply with a probation order. He was held in custody for a bail hearing.
