Several charges have been laid after a domestic dispute between a man and a woman turned violent.
The Chatham-Kent Police Service said witnesses reported seeing a man strike a woman in the face and pull her by the arm on Murray Street in Chatham, on Tuesday at around 8:24 p.m.
Officers arrived to find the man had left the area, however, witnesses provided police with a description and a suspect was arrested a short distance away.
Police later learned that the man had previously been released from custody with conditions, which included not communicating with the woman. The accused was also allegedly carrying methamphetamine.
As a result, a 45-year-old Chatham-Kent man is charged with assault, failing to comply with a release order, failing to comply with an undertaking and possession of a controlled substance. He was held in custody for a bail hearing.
