Charges have been laid following a weapons incident in Raleigh Township.

Just after six last night, Chatham-Kent Police responded to a report of a 78-year-old man carrying a firearm at a trailer on Queens Line.

A containment area was set up with support from the Emergency Response Team and CKPS drone unit. The area was secured, and officers continued communication efforts with the accused.

A short time later, police were able to get into the trailer and found the individual, who was unresponsive. The accused was the only person inside the trailer.

The Chatham man was taken to hospital, where he remains in stable condition following a medical assessment.

He has since been charged with two counts each of pointing a firearm and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
