A Chatham woman is recovering from minor physical injuries following an altercation over the weekend.
Chatham-Kent Police were called to a King Street West apartment late Saturday morning and say the two had been arguing when the man allegedly physically assaulted her, striking her multiple times, before taking off with her purse.
Authorities say the woman gave chase, but the man then threw her cellphone to the ground, breaking it.
Investigators believe a similar incident also took place the day before, resulting in minor injuries.
The 28-year-old man has now been charged with mischief, assault causing bodily harm, and two counts of assault.
He was released from custody with conditions and a date in court next month.
