The Chatham Coloured All-Stars are finally getting the recognition they deserve.

The All-Stars, formed in 1932, became the first all-black team to win a provincial championship in Ontario in 1934.

On Thursday, Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame announced the team will be given the Order of Sport in a ceremony this fall, and be inducted into the Hall of Fame in the Trailblazer category.

There has been a push to have All-Stars inducted into the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame, but the team was overlooked once again this year.

The Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame ceremony will take place in Toronto October 6th.

Other inductees include four-time Olympic hockey champion Hayley Wickenheiser, Olympic canoe-kayak champion Adam van Koeverden, and broadcaster Brian Williams, among others.
