Ventilation equipment was moved into the Boardwalk construction site last week, raising hopes that the end to the years-old project may be in sight.

Mayor Randy Hope says that while it’s not a municipal building, he’s as eager as everyone else to see it completed.

“I’m like everyone else. I’d like to see it done sooner than later. I don’t govern the process, the individual does. I think [the developer] understands that the longer it stands, the bigger impact it’ll have on his pocket. We just need to be patient”, Hope says.

The Mayor says while the project has been under construction for a number of years, it’s impact on the downtown will last much longer.

“We never know what goes on behind the scenes, but what we do know is that it will make a great impression on the downtown area. With increased population density both during the day and night, it’ll act as a beacon to our downtown core”,  says Hope.

Work began on the project back in 2010.
