In an effort to ease the burden on local emergency departments, Chatham-Kent’s COVID-19 assessment centre is expanding its services.
The Chatham-Kent Clinical and COVID-19 Assessment Centre located at 10 Grand Avenue West in Chatham will now provide timely clinical services for people with cold and respiratory flu-like illnesses, in addition to COVID-19 testing and assessment.
The name of the facility will also be changed to the Chatham-Kent COVID, Cold, and Flu Care Clinic.
The Chatham-Kent Health Alliance said the change in the clinic’s mandate was made under the direction of Ontario Health to conserve the needed capacity at the hospital’s emergency departments. The clinic will also provide appointments to the public if they do not have a primary care provider, or cannot be seen in a timely manner by their primary care provider.
Similar changes were also recently made to COVID-19 assessment clinics in Lambton County.
The Chatham-Kent COVID, Cold, and Flu Care Clinic is open from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday. To book an appointment click here or call 519-436-2556.
