Chatham Crash Leaves Five People Injured

Five people have been hurt following a collision in Chatham over the weekend.

Around 4:15 Saturday afternoon, Chatham-Kent Police say a red pickup was heading east on Grand Avenue West near Woods Street when the vehicle jumped the curb and drove onto the south sidewalk, hitting a 19-year-old pedestrian.

The truck then hit a utility pole, veered back onto the road and collided with a westbound GMC Envoy. Both vehicles then hit another utility pole.

The pedestrian suffered minor injuries.

The driver of the truck, a 40-year-old Comber man suffered non-life threatening injuries. The passenger of the truck, a 41-year-old Comber woman suffered serious injuries and was transported to Windsor Regional Hospital.

The driver of the Envoy, a 69-year-old Chatham man suffered non-life threatening injuries and was transported to the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance. His passenger, a 65-year-old Chatham woman suffered serious injuries and was transported to London Health Sciences Centre where she is listed in stable condition.

The Chatham-Kent Police Traffic Management Unit continues to investigate.
