No injuries have been reported after a Chatham duplex went up in flames.

Crews from stations 1 and 2 in Chatham responded to blaze on Patteson Avenue shortly after 2:30 p.m. on Monday, February 17, arriving to find smoke and flames coming from the back of the empty building.

Firefighters battled narrow, congested pathways and intense heat to douse the flames, which had spread to empty spaces in the walls and attic.

The fire was eventually brought under control with an additional ladder truck on standby in the neighbouring parking lot at Entegrus on Queen Street.

Staff from Entegrus, Enbridge, Public Works, and EMS were also on scene.

While the cause remains undetermined, officials say the fire resulted in roughly $400,000 in damage.
