Chatham Fires Remain Under Investigation

The Ontario Fire Marshal has been called to investigate the cause of a house fire in Chatham.

Flames caused $50,000 in damage to a Patteson Avenue home early Tuesday morning.

Crews were called just after midnight after a passing police officer spotted smoke coming from the building.

Emergency crews transferred a father and son to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Meantime, crews from Station #1 & #2 in Chatham were called to a four-plex Tuesday afternoon.

Flames broke out at the Wellington St. E site around 1:30 and when crews arrive, eye witnesses warned that there could be somebody inside.

The fire was quickly doused and nobody was found inside, however a number of pets were rescued.

Damage is pegged at $150,000.

The Office of the Fire Marshal and Emergency Management is attending the scene to investigate the cause of the fire.
