After five years of providing a hub for nonprofits and social-profit organizations, the Chatham-Kent Nonprofit Centre will no longer be offering its services to the community.
As the home of United Way of Chatham-Kent, the CK Nonprofit Centre at 425 McNaughton Ave. W. in Chatham has been providing space for art shows, AGMs, board meetings, fundraisers, and events for many community groups, service organizations, and nonprofits since 2018.
However, as of February 1, space in the building will no longer be available to rent, with Royal LePage Peifer Realty taking over ownership of the property from the United Way.
United Way of Chatham-Kent CEO Barb Palace cited the pandemic for the move, and how it has changed the way people work, gather, and share space.
“The catalyst for the change were changes in community needs and how we use the space,” said Palace in a news release. “The work we do is so important to us, and this allows our small team to be able to focus on our work supporting community, and away from the building maintenance required as a landlord.”
425 McNaughton Ave. W. will continue to be home to the United Way and several other tenants that utilize office space in the building. Royal LePage will also be moving into the building in March.
