Over 300 Chatham-Kent employees made $100,000 or more in 2021.
The annual “Sunshine List” included 131 members of the Chatham-Kent Police Service, 58 members of the Chatham-Kent Fire and Emergency Services, 99 non-union employees, 12 nurses and one health inspector.
A total of 302 employee salaries passed the $100,000 benchmark this year, compared to 296 in 2020.
Fire Chief Chris Case earned $200,048 last year and CK Police Chief Gary Conn made $237,895.
Chatham-Kent Mayor Darrin Canniff’s salary last year reached $112,432.
Chatham-Kent’s top doctor, Medical Officer of Health Dr. David Colby, earned $235,887.
The highest-paid municipal officials who took home more than $200,000 included Chatham-Kent CAO Don Shropshire, Catherine Hoffman, General Manager of Corporate Services/chief Human resources officer, Thomas Kelly, General Manager of Infrastructure and Engineering Services, and April Rietdyk, General Manager of Community Human Services/Chief Executive Officer Public Health — $254,985, $201,001, $213,214, and $226,138 respectively.
Under the Public Sector Salary Disclosure Act, public sector organizations such as hospitals, school boards, municipalities, colleges, universities and hydroelectric companies owned by the province are required to list employees who earn $100,000 or more each year.
