The boundary road agreement between Chatham-Kent and the County of Essex has been renewed.
Originally drafted in 1998, the agreement was unanimously approved for renewal by Chatham-Kent council at Monday night’s meeting.
The agreement covers Former County Road 1, which forms part of the boundary between the two municipalities. Under the terms, Chatham-Kent will continue to perform all maintenance on the road and invoice Essex County annually for 50 percent of the costs. Capital projects, such as resurfacing or major repairs, will also be shared equally.
In 2024, Chatham-Kent’s share of the maintenance costs totaled $42,231.
