A local fundraiser in support of victims of crime and trauma has exceeded expectations.

Chatham-Kent Victim Services hosted its inaugural Bowling Thunder fundraiser at Chatham Bowlerama on Sunday, raising more than $10,000.

Organizers said businesses, organizations, and community members came out in droves to help raise money during a fun afternoon of bowling.

“We are very grateful to people in Chatham-Kent who donated, sponsored, and attended our first-ever Bowling Thunder fundraiser,” said Jason Brown, a volunteer and community engagement coordinator with Chatham-Kent Victim Services. “The event’s success far exceeded our expectations and the generosity of people in our community was fully displayed on Sunday afternoon.”

All the funds raised will support Chatham-Kent Victim Services, which provides short-term emotional support, crisis intervention, practical assistance, and community referrals to those impacted by crime, tragedy, and traumatic situations.
