Chatham Legion To Celebrate Liberation Of Netherlands

A colourful and boisterous display will make its way through downtown Chatham this weekend.

Members of Chatham Legion Branch 642 will march with the Ontario Massed Pipes and Drums on Saturday afternoon to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the liberation of the Netherlands during the Second World War.

The parade will act as a dress rehearsal for the band, which will travel to Holland in May as part of the liberation celebrations.

The 55-member pipe band and colour guard will march from the Chatham Legion on William Street North to Sons of Kent Brewing Co. on Adelaide Street South, beginning at 2:30 p.m. The parade will then make its way back to the legion at 4:15 p.m.

A barbeque fundraiser will also be held at the legion all afternoon from 12 p.m. until 6:30 p.m.
