A Chatham man has been charged after allegedly attempting to lure a child online.
The Chatham-Kent Police Service said officers with the Internet Child Exploitation unit, with assistance from the Windsor Police Service, located the suspect on Thursday in Amherstburg and arrested him without incident.
The 45-year-old accused has been charged with luring a child under the age of 16 and making sexually explicit material available to a person under 16. He was later released from custody with a future court date.
The victim has since been identified and has been offered
the necessary support, police said.
The investigation into the incident remains ongoing.
