Chatham Man Arrested for Drinking and Driving Twice In 10 Days

A 24-year-old Chatham man has been charged with drinking and driving related charges twice within a week and a half.
Chatham-Kent Police initially arrested the Chatham man for impaired driving on July 25th after a concerned citizen called authorities.
He was charged with impaired driving and having a blood alcohol concentration above the legal limit. He was also issued a 90-day licence suspension and his vehicle was impounded for 7 days in accordance with Ontario’s Vehicle Impoundment Program.
On Tuesday afternoon, members of the CKPS Traffic Unit were at a local towing company examining a vehicle for an unrelated investigation. The same 24-year-old man attended to retrieve his vehicle from the impound. While in the parking lot, the man backed into a police cruiser. The officers suspected he had been consuming alcohol. He was arrested and transported to police headquarters for breath testing where it was determined that his blood alcohol concentration was more than double the legal limit.
For the second offence, he has been charged with having a blood alcohol concentration above the legal limit. He was released with a future court date.
