A 54-year-old Chatham man has turned himself into police in connection to a historic sexual assault.
Police say the man allegedly sexually assaulted a 9-year-old boy in 1989.
Police received information of the offence in May of 2020 and conducted an investigation.
The 54-year-old suspect attended the Chatham-Kent Police Service headquarters on Friday morning, where he turned himself in.
The man has been charged with sexual assault and sexual interference.
He was released from custody with a future court date.
